“Iranian Bread and Salt Day” at Solaleh Kindergarten
On Saturday, October 18 (26th of Mehr), Solaleh Kindergarten was filled with a special atmosphere. To celebrate Iranian Bread and Salt Day, a delightful event was held with the participation of preschool children from levels one and two, along with their mothers. The aim of this celebration was to help children become familiar with Iran’s culinary culture and strengthen their sense of national identity.
From the early morning, mothers arrived carrying baskets filled with their favorite traditional homemade dishes. On this day, the kindergarten’s yard and playhouse were transformed into several food booths. Each mother decorated her small booth with care and presented her local dish in a simple yet beautiful setting, offering tastes and stories to the children and other parents.

The pleasant aroma of freshly baked local breads blended with the inviting scents of dishes such as Ash Reshteh (herb and noodle soup), Torshi Tareh (herb stew from the north), Reshteh Polo from Kermanshah, Dolmeh, Gheimeh Nesar from Qazvin, and Kashk-e Bademjan (eggplant dip), turning the kindergarten into a festival of tastes and memories.
Children, full of excitement and curiosity, visited the booths and tasted different foods alongside their teachers. They shared their impressions with friends — some smiling and saying, “This is my favorite food!” while others eagerly described the new flavors they had just discovered.
The mothers’ participation added a warm and heartfelt touch to the day. Many of them explained the origins of their dishes and shared short stories about their hometowns. In this way, children learned, in the simplest and most enjoyable way, about the cultural and culinary diversity of Iran — from north to south, east to west, each dish reflecting the kindness and traditions of its people.
“Our goal in celebrating Iranian Bread and Salt Day,” the staff explained, “was to show children that Iranian food is not just something to eat — it is part of our culture, history, and identity. Through experiences like this, children learn that every piece of bread carries a story of effort, love, and community.”
By holding such events, Solaleh Kindergarten strives to introduce children to the beautiful traditions and values of Iranian culture, nurturing in them a lasting sense of pride and belonging to their national identity.
